Re:Google Search is now less than half of Alphabet’s revenue on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:59PM (#50293268)
Their stock is down 13% today from this news and only up 2% over the last year.
Are you unsure if he is evil?
I was a huge AI skeptic from the beginning through ~2025. But once Opus came out, it's pretty obvious writing code by hand is an obsolete skill on its own. You still need to know how to read code, how to know what good/bad code looks like, and if it matches what you're truly asking for. But there's really no reason to be typing code with your own fingers in 2026 and beyond.

2024 me would be shocked at current me saying this.

I love not socializing. I've never enjoyed a party in my life, I hate dating, I don't want to lose any time in the day to hanging out with anyone. But what I wonder is if am I fundamentally an antisocial person, or am I a product of my cursed environment and trapped in the momentum of the antisocial tidal wave that has been happening since before I was born?
Re:Governments are mishandling the affordability crisis on Sunday October 11, 2026 @08:53PM (#50049915)
NYC, and a handful of neighborhoods from the other top 5 cities, are the only places in the entire country that have semi-functioning urban design. The entire population of America who wants human centered urban design only have a few square miles to pick from. So of course the cost of living will be high.

This is the most impactful economic discovery of the century. You can raise taxes as much as you want if you add a layer of seperation to it and print currency.
Re:US Suspends Visa Program for Tech Firms Including Microsoft on Thursday October 08, 2026 @03:16PM (#50010635)
This is a nepotism war
All fees and taxes and tariffs end up being a direct cost to the consumer
Leetcode seems so pointless in the AI era. It was already pretty pointless but there’s nothing to it now.
Re:AI has torched the market for junior programmers on Saturday July 04, 2026 @04:22PM (#48788664)
Same. I don't think it will happen for as long as my company exists.
> Are those exams a contest?

Yes

Re:U.S. Science Is in Chaos on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @05:05PM (#48576906)
I don't think this era of ignorance and anti-intellectualism can be compared to a previous point of time in modern America.

Are people really moving to China? A country that will never give outsiders citizenship?
Hasn't cursor's revenue declined? I think they already peaked.
Re:SpaceX Is Buying Cursor on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @01:27PM (#48558734)
Cursor became obsolete pretty quickly as Claude has improved. Good on them to find an out before they collapsed. $60 billion is a huge overpay.
Re:Uber to cut 23% of jobs in HR on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @01:16PM (#48386786)
Ironically an HR department is detrimental to unionization efforts
There is nowhere else for that money to go
Re:The Dead Economy Theory on Friday May 29, 2026 @04:13PM (#48328580)
The jobs they worked turned into capital which is where their leverage comes from. So it's still applies.

For a frontend developer? What is there to scale? The app is already done.
> What solution

The nobel prize winner hopefully figures that out

Re:How We Broke Top AI Agent Benchmarks: And What Comes Next on Saturday April 11, 2026 @10:27PM (#47735667)
Writing is still an art, and AI will never be able to do it well like all other forms of art.
Headlines right next to each other on my HN feed

"Western carmakers' retreat from electric risks dooming them to irrelevance"

"How BYD got EV chargers to work almost as fast as gas pumps"

China is going to take over the world economically off of this energy crisis. They print solar panels like America prints money.
Re:OpenClaw Is Changing My Life on Sunday February 08, 2026 @02:18PM (#46937515)
It reads like articles that pretended blockchain was revolutionary. Also the article itself seems like AI slop.
Re:CEOs are hugely expensive. Why not automate them? on Sunday December 28, 2025 @06:47PM (#46415696)
Other than people hallucinating relationships with a stream of text, not really.
Were you born pre-industrial revolution?
Re:Dev Culture Is Dying the Curious Developer Is Gone on Friday September 19, 2025 @12:46PM (#45303733)
As Tony Soprano once said, "Alright but you gotta get over it"
I've always been fine with Tiktok dying, surely that will be expedited under their leadership
Re:Global Peace Index 2025 on Tuesday September 16, 2025 @11:44PM (#45271419)
A funny one is the "Positive Peace Index"

"Positive Peace is defined as the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful societies. The Positive Peace Index measures the level of societal resilience of a nation or region according."

And the United States scores very high. Losing a bit of credibility there.

It's effectively impossible to have no angular momentum with these processes.
