Here is a transcript of our President's statement on cybersecurity during the debates:

"I have a son. He’s 10 years old. He has computers. He is so good with these computers, it’s unbelievable. The security aspect of cyber is very, very tough. And maybe it’s hardly do-able. But I will say, we are not doing the job we should be doing, but that’s true throughout our whole governmental society. We have so many things that we have to do better, Lester and certainly cyber is one of them.”

I upvoted the parent because I agree with his sentiment -- we shouldn't pick on Trump's son. khazhou's quote puts the GP in context, however; this is not a critique of any of Trump's kids, but rather of Trump's fundamental lack of awareness of the complexities of the cybersecurity space.

Unfortunately, Trump was the one who brought his son's computer expertise to the conversation.

Was Trump really saying that his kid can solve cybersecurity issues, or is he just unable to deliver an ad hoc speech without barely relevant rambling?

To be honest, I'm not sure which of those two options is preferable.

It's not a comment about the kid, it's about Trump's ridiculousness.

Though I do think that this kind of sarcastic humor is not appropriate on HN.

A agree that comment is relevant to the discussion. It demonstrates the mindset of the person selecting the staff.
